Overview: The South Fork Madison Ranch is a rare find in the western United States and touts pristine alpine views, varied live water features and one mile of forest service boundary. An incoming owner can enjoy the river, creeks, wetlands and ponds on the property while indulging in all of the recreational opportunities that abound in nearby Yellowstone National Park.
Location: The ranch is located in West Yellowstone, Montana, one mile from US Highway 20 and five miles from the entrance of Yellowstone National Park. The community of West Yellowstone has 1,200 year-round residents, however during summer months, over one million people from around the world pass through town to visit Yellowstone National Park. This region of Montana is one of the most sought-after areas for fly fishing, hiking, wildlife viewing and mountain biking. During the summer, West Yellowstone receives daily air service from Salt Lake City and the 8,000’ runway accommodates most private planes throughout the year. Additional airports with commercial air service are located in Jackson Hole, Idaho Falls and Bozeman.
Acreage: The South Fork Madison Ranch is comprised of approximately 280 contiguous deeded acres. The gently rolling topography includes grass pastures, sage uplands and willow lowlands. The ranch shares over one mile of common boundary with the Gallatin National Forest offering access to over two million acres of land. The ranch encompasses many live water features including two creeks, two large ponds and a stretch of the South Fork of the Madison River.
Live Water: The South Fork Madison Ranch touts an incredible amount and variety of live water. The Denney Creek and another unnamed spring creek flow through the property for over a half mile and enter the South Fork of the Madison River. These two spring creeks feed the ranch’s two large ponds and provide a path for trout to move throughout the system to Hebgen Lake. Both creeks on the ranch are perfect candidates for fisheries enhancement work. The north end of the property straddles the South Fork of the Madison River and offers great fly fishing opportunities with exceptional hatches.
