Only 45 minutes from the Knoxville Airport and less than a half day’s drive from most of southeastern United States, Riveridge is much easier to get to than it is to leave. Situated less than an hour away from Smoky Mountain National Park, Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge and Knoxville, Tennessee, Riveridge is an ideal location for easy access to the best in the Great Smoky Mountains with the quiet separation of a beautiful, rural retreat.

The 55-acre property is situated on the third highest point in Jefferson County overlooking the Holston River, one of two main tributaries of the Tennessee River. The many scenic river overlooks provide a great way to enjoy the property via rock promontories and man-made decks. From the high-ridge park-like setting, the lodge and surrounding property offer views of the countless hollows and ridges that gave the Great Smoky Mountains their name. From many vantage points there are magnificent views of the Smoky Mountains to the south, the Clinch Mountains to the north and the Holston River Valley that runs between them. The 55 acres of bluffs and ridgelines are accessed by a central road system intertwined with many walking trails leading to overlooks capturing magnificent landscapes and perspectives. The timber ridge trails running throughout the property offer access to great hunting, hiking and biking opportunities. There is a small pond on the property, as well as a very unique cave above the river. Numerous lookout points are perfectly situated to catch majestic sunsets and enjoy warm campfires with family and friends.

In addition to the 55-acre property where the lodge and other structures are located, this offering includes Byerley Island. This a remarkable 18-acre island surrounded by clear water and easily accessible across a shallow ford. The island is located several miles downstream from Riveridge proper, a short drive or enjoyable half-day float. The permanent scenic beauty of Byerley Island is assured by Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) regulations that govern Holston River waterway lands and provide full access for recreational, not development, purposes. The island is an ideal destination for secluded camping, fishing and hunting.

After nearly two years of construction, the custom-built Riveridge Lodge was completed in 2003. Additionally, the original ridge-top home was remodeled and expanded in 2007. All in all, this stunning property includes the 8,000 sqft lodge, a 5,500 sqft ridge-top home and 1,500 sqft utility barn. There is a 1,250 sqft home at the property entrance suitable for a caretaker’s quarters or other uses.

Providing plenty of space for guests, there are seven bedrooms and ten baths, making this lodge ideal for hosting everything from large family functions to corporate events or even bed and breakfast patrons. The main lodge combines many accommodating features beyond the spacious layout.

The unique vantage point of the lodge porches rewards the early riser as deer and wild turkey make their morning forays in the meadow below, and still forgives the late sleeper with an encore evening performance against the backdrop of an East Tennessee sunset. A short distance from the lodge, a remote three-tiered deck overlooks the river from the edge of a limestone bluff, where soaring eagles are a common sight. Awaken in restful peace to the sounds of nature in anticipation of another day of tranquility or adventure at Riveridge Lodge, while tantalizing aromas of freshly baked breads and coffee drift through the halls and gently coax you from bed.
