Location
Rated by Outside Magazine as one of the “25 Best Small Towns in America,” Missoula is a vibrant university town located on the north end of Montana’s stunning Bitterroot Valley. Known as Montana’s “Banana Belt” for its slightly warmer temperatures, the Missoula area is home to some of Montana’s best recreational activities. Missoulians are known for taking pride in the arts, music, and all that makes their city come alive. Montana River Lodge is a short half hour drive west of Missoula via Interstate-90.
Live Water
The Montana River Lodge is located at the tail end of the Albeton Gorge, along one of Montana’s longest rivers, the Clark Fork, which stretches nearly 300 miles from its headwaters near Butte, all the way to the Idaho border. The section of river near the lodge holds feisty rainbows that are some of the hardest fighting in the state, and native Westslope Cutthroats that are generally eager to rise for the dry fly.
