Overview: Situated in the shadow of the spectacular Beartooth Mountains, Bald Peak Ranch is located in Park County, Wyoming. With easy year-round access, the ranch is 40 minutes north of the famous, historic town of Cody. As a crucial component in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, Bald Peak Ranch provides habitat and critical winter range to a large variety of wildlife species. Encompassing 2,957 contiguous acres the ranch is comprised of 1,070 deeded acres, 1,247 acres of BLM grazing lease and 640 acres of state lease. With exceptional water rights, the combined acreage is ideally suited to horse or cattle operations with unlimited recreation including approximately three miles of access to the Clarks Fork River.
Improvements: With its private setting, Bald Peak Ranch improvements were designed to complement horse and cattle operation while providing comfortable amenities. Historically the irrigated fields have been utilized for high production barley and alfalfa. Currently leased, these fields are utilized for cattle grazing and provide exceptional habitat for a variety of wildlife including a large resident elk herd. The remaining 589 deeded acres consist of native rangeland providing additional grazing and wildlife habitat.
Live Water: Along the ranch’s northern border the Wyoming State and BLM lands provide access to three miles of the Clarks Fork of the Yellowstone River. Wyoming’s only federally designated Wild and Scenic River, the Clarks Fork originates high in the Beartooth Mountains and flows in a southeasterly direction into Wyoming for approximately 40 miles before re-entering Montana, and flowing northeast to join the mighty Yellowstone River. Fed by glacial lakes draining the Beartooth Plateau, the Clarks Fork of the Yellowstone is a fly fisherman’s dream river. To complement the exceptional fishing on the Clarks Fork River there are two large reservoirs minutes from the ranch on BLM lands. Hogan Reservoir is a 45-acre catch and release lake where fishermen will find a variety of fish including brown trout and cutthroat trout.
Wildlife: Few private ranch holdings can compare to the variety and quantity of wildlife that inhabit the Bald Peak Ranch. The setting at the ranch provides one of the area’s most diverse wildlife environments. Surrounded by public lands and other large private tracts, the ranch is home to many different species of wildlife including mule deer, whitetail and pronghorn.
